How to Get a Nevada Driver's License
From your first learner's permit to a full Nevada driver's license, here's the general path most Nevada drivers follow. Always verify the latest requirements with Nevada DMV. Tap any step to expand the details.
At 15½, pass the Nevada DMV knowledge test — 25 questions, 80% to pass (20 correct) — and a vision test to receive your instruction permit. Teens under 18 must also complete a driver education course (or log 100 supervised hours instead).
Hold your instruction permit for at least 6 months and log 50 hours of supervised driving — including 10 hours at night — with a licensed adult 21 or older (waived if you complete a defensive driving course).
After holding your permit for 6 months and completing driver education, pass the driving test to receive your provisional license at 16. You may not drive between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and may carry no passengers under 18 (immediate family excepted) for the first 6 months.
After holding your provisional license for at least 6 months with a clean record (minimum 16 years, 6 months) — or at 18 — receive your full, unrestricted Nevada driver license.

All permit holders must also log 50 hours of supervised driving — including 10 hours at night — and hold the instruction permit for at least 6 months before the provisional license at 16.
