How to Get a Oklahoma Driver's License
From your first learner's permit to a full Oklahoma driver's license, here's the general path most Oklahoma drivers follow. Always verify the latest requirements with Service Oklahoma. Tap any step to expand the details.
At 15, pass the Oklahoma written knowledge test — 50 questions, 80% to pass (40 correct) — and a vision test to receive your learner's permit. A parent or guardian must consent if you are under 18.
Hold your learner's permit for at least 6 months and log 50 hours of supervised driving — including 10 hours at night — with a licensed adult 21 or older. Driver education is recommended and lets you move to a full license sooner.
After holding your permit for 6 months, pass the driving test to receive your intermediate license at 16. You may not drive between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and may carry no more than one passenger (with limited exceptions).
With driver education, receive your full Oklahoma driver license after holding the intermediate license for 6 months (minimum 16 years, 6 months). Without driver education, hold it for 12 months — or reach 18 — before your full license.

Oklahoma does not require driver education for a learner's permit, but completing a state-approved course lets you earn your full license sooner — 6 months after the intermediate license (instead of 12 months without it).
All permit holders must log 50 hours of supervised driving — including 10 hours at night — and hold the permit for at least 6 months before the intermediate license at 16.
DOT Driving School connects you with recommended Oklahoma driver education and behind-the-wheel training courses that help you meet requirements and become a safer driver.
