Complete a state-approved driver education course (27 classroom hours, 6 behind-the-wheel hours, and 6 observation hours) and log 40 hours of supervised driving — including 10 hours at night — with a licensed adult.
Hold your learner permit for at least 6 months (until you turn 16), complete driver education and the 40 hours, then pass the driving skills test for a provisional license at 16.
Receive your provisional license at 16. For the first 6 months you may not drive midnight–5 a.m. and may carry no passengers under 18 (immediate family excepted).
After holding your provisional license for at least 6 months with a clean record (minimum 16 years, 6 months) — or at 18 — receive your full, unrestricted Utah driver license.
