Arizona Adult Driver Education (Recommended Online Course)

Arizona does not require adult driver education. Adults 18 and older must pass the MVD knowledge test (30 questions, 80% to pass — 24 correct), a vision test, and the road test to receive a full, unrestricted Arizona driver's license. This recommended online course is a supplemental study tool that helps you build the skills and knowledge to pass the tests. It is not a state-approved program and is not required.

The course features clear language, fresh graphics, fun videos, and interactive 3-D animations that keep you engaged and help you retain what you learn. It is 100% online and self-paced on any device. Completing it does not waive any MVD requirement — you must still pass the knowledge, vision, and road tests.

You may qualify for an auto insurance discount with eligible auto insurance companies. The discount is not guaranteed — ask your insurance agent for details. This is a recommended supplemental course, not a state-approved Arizona driver education program.

Arizona teens under 18 follow a Class G graduated license path where an MVD-approved driver education course waives the 30-hour supervised-driving requirement, but adults 18 and older apply directly for a Class D (full) license and are not subject to the Class G nighttime or passenger restrictions. The MVD knowledge test may be taken at an MVD office or at home through the MVD's online testing, and adults must pass it, a vision test, and the road test.
